Wireless Registration Instructions for Guests (PCs & Macs)

Gettysburg College students should never use “I am a Guest requesting temporary Internet access” for registration. Students, please use “I am a Student or Employee” for registration.

Gettysburg College requires all wireless computers and devices to be registered on the wireless network. All guests will be directed to a registration page when you launch your Internet browser after connecting to Gbcwifi. All computers and devices capable of running an Antivirus program will be checked for a valid Antivirus program with current definitions. Users must have the ability to install applications in order to register their computers.

Complete the form according to your selection.

Guests would join using the Gettysburg College network by selecting “I am a Guest requesting temporary internet access.

Continue reading for instructions to complete registration using your Mac or Windows devices on the Gettysburg College network.

Windows Registration

Make sure your antivirus software is up-to-date, then open your browser. It’s best to use the Edge browser to register your Windows device.

You may be greeted with a certificate security warning box. Please click on Keep (or Continue)

FortiNac Download


The FortiNAC software will be downloaded.

FortiNac Open File


Click on “Open file” to run the software.

Click Continue Button

Select “Continue” to proceed.

The software will check on your anti-virus:

Anti-Virus Check

If your antivirus is out of date or not installed, you will be taken to a page with links to download a current version. When your system meets the requirements, you will be taken to the “Success” page.

Once the software verifies you have current anti-virus installed on your computer, you will see the following:

Finished Anti-virus Check

Select “Finish” to complete registration.

The process takes another 45 seconds while your computer is configured to use the wireless network. Please wait until it is finished.

Reconnecting

When your network connection has been reconfigured, you will receive this message:

Connection Reconfigured

Close your browser and reopen. You should now be able to surf the internet on gbcwifi. If you cannot, wait 30 seconds and restart your browser again. For further problems or questions, please call the IT Help Desk at 717-337-7000 option 1 or email trouble@gettysburg.edu.

Mac Registration with Anti-Virus

Make sure your anti-virus software is up-to-date and open the Safari browser.

You may be greeted with the following window:

Show Details

Select Show Details.

Visit this Website

Select visit this website.

This will appear:

Click Visit Website

Select Visit Website.

This window will appear:

Type in your local machine’s username and password and select Update Settings.

This webpage will appear:

Guest Wi-Fi

Select the appropriate role and complete the required information to proceed.

FortiNAC Dissolvable Agent.dmg will be downloaded to your computer.

Double Click Fortinac

When you open it, you will see this prompt:

Click Open

Select Open.

Select Continue in this window:

Click Continue

This next prompt will open:

Enter Mac Password

Type in your local computer name/password and select Modify Configuration.

Your computer will be checked for up-to-date anti-virus definitions.

Antivirus Check

Once checked and anti-virus is up-to-date, you will see this message. Select Finish.

Click Finish

Final processes are run:

Reconnecting

When your network connection has been reconfigured, you will receive this message:

Device has been reconfigured

Close your browser and reopen. You should now be able to surf the internet on gbcwifi. If you cannot, wait 30 seconds and restart your browser again. For further problems or questions, please call the IT Help Desk at 717-337-7000 option 1 or email trouble@gettysburg.edu.

Mac Registration without Anti-Virus

Open the Safari browser.

You may be greeted with the following window:

Click Show Details

Select Show Details.

Click visit this website

Select visit this website.

This will appear:

Click Visit Website

Select Visit Website.

This window will appear:

Click Update Settings

Type in your local machine’s username and password and select Update Settings.

This webpage will appear:

Guest Wi-Fi

Select the appropriate role and complete the required information to proceed.

FortiNAC Dissolvable Agent.dmg will be downloaded to your computer.

Double Click Fortinac


When you open it, you will see this prompt:

Click Open

Select Open.
Select Continue in this window:

Click Continue

This next prompt will open:

Click Modify Configuration

Type in your local computer name/password and select Modify Configuration.

Your computer will be checked for up-to-date anti-virus definitions.

Antivirus Check

At this point, you will get see this window:

No Antivirus Installed Click Drop down arrow.

Click on drop-down arrow to expand to see this window:

Click link to install an antivirus.

Click on link to see this window:

Select an antivirus from the list.

Select Avast for Windows and Mac OSX to install FREE anti-virus software.

Once installed, click on the FortiNAC icon to see this window to Re-scan your computer.

Click Rescan

Once scanning is complete, you will see this window:

Reconnecting connection

If you see the next window, type in the password and select Modify Settings.

Enter Mac password

Select Finish

Click Finish

You will have successfully registered your computer when you see this window:

Reconnecting

When your network connection has been reconfigured, you will receive this message:

Connection has been reconfigured.
